The paint that is used to paint your home works to prevent moisture from getting through to the wood beneath.
Even if the paint still looks good after 5 years, it will have lost some of its maisture barrier capabilities. Additionally, even the 50 year elastomeric caulk will develop cracks and allow moisture into the wood behind it. Moisture and wood combine to rot the wood which means more repairs and the cost of your paint job going up. If your exterior paint is 5 years old or older, we recommend a new paint job. Your home will look better and will be better protected if you do.
